I believe Paul died in 1971, his second year of college. He was at Tulane.
Paul attended WSU from 1970 untill 1974, majored in premed-physiology. Applied to med school and was an alternate at the U of W med school and Tulane med school. Moved to Jackson Hole while continuing to apply to various programs. Spent two years there working at the ski resort as a ski instructor. Managed to ski Corbet's Coulair (google it, you'll be impressed). Was accepted at Vanderbilt to their doctorate program in physiology in 1976. Unfortunately, diagnosed with cancer at that time. Underwent chemotherapy at M.D.Anderson in Texas over the next 3 years. Passed away in the fall of 1979 and was buried in the family cemetery in Missippi.
David Swofford's comment of Sept. 3, 2010, is correct. There is a photograph of Paul David Stewart's gravestone in Mississippi on the www.findagrave.com website. The link to Paul's memorial on that site is listed at the end of this entry. Ancestry.com also confirms Paul's death date as November 3, 1979. While home from college in the summer of 1973, I was in the Sunnyside hospital for 40 days with back surgery and complications. Paul was home from WSU, working as an orderly at the hospital, and cared for me on numerous occasions. We had some great fellowship despite the circumstances which brought us together again. I was saddened to hear of his passing six years later, less than a year before our 10th year reunion in 1980.
